Birthday FOTD and French food

Last week was my birthday and we were in Amelia Island. We ate dinner at the local French restaurant called Le Clos. This must be my fourth birthday I've celebrated at this restaurant and I absolutely love it. Florida is always warm so I wore a very simple outfit both shirt and skirt from Ann Taylor and shoes from BCBG.

 Below is the diner starting with salad, to grouper and creme brule.

That evening we got some rocky road chocolate fudge and enjoyed the sunset. 

I absolutely love French food. It's so rich and so delicious. We had a great day in Amelia and looking forward to going back. 

Nude lips - MAC Plink and Revlon Soft Nude

I'm definitely a lover of nude and natural lipsticks and a true believer that the right nude, depending on skin color, can make you look polished and refined but in a very subtle and effortless kind of way. My two favorite lipsticks at the moment are MAC "Plink" which is a stunning rose nude that looks so shimmery on the lips you can't opt not to wear gloss and revlon "Soft Nude" which is a honey nude. I absolutely love these two lipsticks for two very different reasons. MAC's Plink is so lovely on the lips. The amount of shimmer makes the lips very lush and glossy. Revlon's Soft Nude is a very natural nude which I love for a day at the office. On top of both,  I love to wear Buxom's gloss in "White Russian" a beautiful milky pink that plumps up the lips.

These three are some gorgeous nudes for any nude lipstick and lipgloss lover and I highly recommend.

Dior nail glow - swatches

Dior nail glow is a clear polish with a pink undertone. Once in a while I love the look of bare nails. I love how they look natural and clean but I still want them to look glossy and polished. For days like those, I go to Dior's Nail Glow. It provides that gorgeous "your look" but a thousand times better nail color.

The pink hue makes this such a gorgeous shade. I have several other natural looking bases but this is on a class of it's own. I absolutely love it. For the tips of my nails I use a Sephora crayon called Blanc and it's a while nail pencil. It keeps the tips looking white and fresh.

Vacationing in Amelia Island, FL for the week

This week was my birthday and the husband, my dog and I went to Amelia Island for the week. We had an amazing time enjoying the beach, reading, relaxing and eating tons and tons of seafood and amazing deserts.  Below are some pictures from this week. 

This is our 4th time in Amelia and we love this little island. I'll post a few more pictures in the upcoming week. 

By Terry Color Fix cream eyeshadow in Misty Rocks - Swatches and a review

Misty Rocks By Terry is a taupe lover's dream. It reminds me of a cream version of one of my favorite eyeshadows,  MAC Satin Taupe but much shinier. It's a purple taupe with a good dose of silver shimmer running thru it. The shimmer is so intense that when worn, it almost appears as a wet eyeshadow with a very strong metallic look

The staying power is phenomenal. I wore this while vacationing in Florida this week and it didn't budge the entire evening even after being out for dinner and walking downtown in hot humid weather. The packing is very chic and well designed. It's a golden tube with a strip of the color at the end of the tube which also makes it easier to find if you have more than one of these.
This is a must have for taupe shimmery shade lovers. I'm very pleased to have this and am excited to wear it in the upcoming weeks.

Dolce & Gabbana eyeshadow quad in the color "Desert"

I am a natural/nude eyeshadow type of girl and no matter how many natural shades I have, I am always up to trying more. In fact, it's the first thing I try out from a brand. So here we have my very first Dolce & Gabbana make up purchase and I opted for a very natural eyeshadow quad in the color "Desert".  This quad has amazing colors from beautiful vanilla to burned orange to a very deep eggplant shade and one very interesting shimmery green brown shade.

The pigmentation is amazing and the texture is so smooth to the touch but with minimal to no fall out. Absolutely amazing quad.

Bobbi Brown Surf & Sand Palette Swatches

Bobbi Brown Surf and Sand 2014 summer collection just released and it's very beach themed which I love. There are two eyeshadow palettes released with this collection and I picked the Surf & Sand one. The packaging is stunning. It's a gorgeous sandy gold with slight shimmery thread that makes it glisten in sunlight. The colors are beautiful golden bronzy summery shades.

 The colors swatched below are: blazing star, bikini bronze, sand and saddle. Blazing star is a sparkle so it's very sheet and sand matches my skin and it doesn't show up that well. I really like bikini bronze. It's a gorgeous shimmery golden shade and blazing star is a softer black.

 The colors swatched below are: Pale Cream, Gold, Frappe and Golden Copper. I love all of these. The golden copper is probably my favorite. They all swatch very nicely and I love that there are two mattes and two shimmers.

Overall, while some of the colors may not have the best pigmentation, if you love the beach and you tend to collect summer collection, you will really like this palette. Outside of three shades, the rest are very nicely pigmented.
