Portland, Maine

Hi everyone,
I just got back from a wonderful trip to Maine and Boston Massachusetts. We had a lovely time and I wanted to share a few posts and pictures of the vacation.
We arrived in Portland, Maine Saturday and immediately visited J's Oysters. If you're a fan of seafood, you like me, will love Maine. I was set to run the sugarlaof mountain marathon the next day so pre marathon dinner consisted of raw oysters and seafood pasta. My husband got the lobster pasta. We both split the main causes and they were both amazing.

After dinner we walked around Portland's Old Port for a few minutes. This area is beautiful. The ocean is dotted with boats and the roads are cobblestone. It brings you back in time surrounded with old locally owned stores. The people are extremely friendly and several of the merchandise in the stores is locally made.

We drove to Sugarloaf Mountains for the marathon the next day. I will post all about my experience and the beautiful areas of Western Mountains on the next post.

Bobbi Brown Nectar Nail Polish Swatch

Bobbi Brown Nectar nail polish is a poppy apricot peachy cream shade that is a must have for spring and summer. The color is a warm toned glossy shade that automatically warms up your skin and makes you look tanner. And although this is an orange shade, it's a muted orange so it still looks classy and grown up.

The application was amazing. It went opaque in one coat. Absolutely love this color and highly recommend it.

MALLY Champagne and Saddle Shimmer shadow stick swatches

I've been curious about Mally Cosmetics for a while but it's one of those brands that is not sold around my area so the only time I've been able to play/swatch the products is when I go to Henri Bendel in NYC. However, Ulta is now selling Mally so over the weekend I picked two of their shadow sticks in the color champagne and saddle shimmer. 

These can be used on their own as eyeshadow or as a base for eyeshadow. Their meant to be long lasting and non creasing. I find that after 6 hours they do crease on me but only so slightly. Champagne is an intense shimmer champagne. I love the color but its definitely way more sparkly then MAC's Bare Study which is my favorite champagne cream base/shadow type of product. The shade itself is very universal and flattering on a variety of skin tones. Saddle shimmer is a gorgeous brown taupe infused with gold shimmer. They're both beautiful if you enjoy intense shimmer and want some sparkle in your life.

Tom Ford Pink Crush nail polish swatch

Happy Easter everyone. Today's choice of nail polish  is Tom Ford Pink Crush. This is a very grown up pink. It is a soft, feminine milky pink but done in a more subtle and sheer manner that looks very sophisticated on the nails.

The texture needs two coats to look as the picture above. It's a gorgeous blue toned pink and it's very glossy. I absolutely love this color. What makes this unique for me is that it's not in your face opaque pink so I can wear this with a more verity of clothes.

KAT VON D Monarch Eyeshadow Palette Swatches

Kat Von D recently released two new eyeshadow palettes. Having heard so much about the Monarch one, I ventured to Sephora last week and swatches and I'm pleased to report that all the rave is worth it. These eyeshadows have amazing pigmentation keen to Inglot, buttery soft easy to blend texture and a verity of cool and warm toned shades, mattes and shimmery. On to the swatches:

1. The first four swatches are of tiny death, bedhead, shadow box and disintegration. 

2. The next four swatches are telepathy, vanish, belaney and killing jar.

3. The last four are entomology, summerfly, pavilion and wrath.

I highly recommend this palette. The texture and pigmentation is amazing and you get a combination of cool and warm tone shades, shimmer and matte. It's not bulky and it's travel friendly. It's all you would need to create any eye look from soft and day time to smoky night time looks.

OCC Mein Herr Swatch

I absolutely adore a nude polish. It's safe to say nude and reds remain two of my favorite color of polishes. OCC Mein Herr is a beautiful nude. It's a milky white that leans warm tone (peach/golden hint to it). I got so many compliments since wearing this polish. It looks so clean and sophisticated on.

The application of this was wonderful. It went opaque so easily and this is a very hard thing to say for milky polishes and the wear is very nice. It hasn't chipped and it's staying on very nicely.

Essie Cute As A Button Swatch

You know those polishes that automatically make you think of warm weather, tropical waters and vacations? Essie Cute As A Button is that polish for me. It's a gorgeous hot orange color that's very bright and it automatically warms up the skin. I love this nail polish with a tan because it gives that gorgeous "warm bronzed" look to the hands and toes.

The application can be a bit tricky.  It needs two coats as the first one is streaky but the result are well worth it. The color is a cream and it has no shimmer but it's very glossy. I absolutely adore this shade.
